The Services We Provide
Service Menu
All services provided at Team Mental Health Services are based upon the person-centered planning process. You may wonder what this process is and how it works. Person-centered planning is a process-oriented approach to empower the consumer receiving services. It focuses on the person and their needs by putting them in charge of defining the direction for their lives. It also involves families, friends and professionals based upon the consumer’s requirements.
Person-centered planning involves the development of a toolbox of methods and resources that enable consumers to choose their own pathways to success; the planners simply help them to figure out where they want to go and the best way to get there.
Our Treatment Methods
Our treatments are founded on evidence-based practices and research in the area of mental health. The most commonly utilized treatments are:

  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
  • Group Therapy
  • Family Therapy
  • Crisis Intervention/Stabilization
Psychiatry
Psychiatrists treat the biological and psychological components of mental illness simultaneously. They can investigate whether symptoms of mental disorders have physical causes, such as a hormone imbalance or an adverse reaction to medication, or whether psychological symptoms are contributing to physical conditions, such as cardiovascular problems or high blood pressure. Additionally, they can determine whether mental illness contains a social component such as alcohol and/or substance abuse.

Team Mental Health Services psychiatrists diagnose and treat for all of the above. They work together with consumers, family members and a coordinated group of TMHS professionals to ensure that consumers receive the best possible mental health care. They are committed to providing the highest degree of quality of life to consumers at each stage of treatment. From their initial assessment to their continued rehabilitation and recovery, TMHS consumers can be assured they will be supported by their psychiatrist along their journey.

Case Management
Case management services enhance the independence of the consumer who may be struggling with severe or persistent mental illness and requires assistance in accessing needed community services, including mental health and medical care.

Case Managers help with coordinating services, advocating and supporting consumers in achieving goals. This includes assisting consumers in obtaining and utilizing services such as transportation, housing, employment, community groups and any other services, which might enhance personal independence and community adjustment.

Case management service is the glue that binds together a coordinated plan of treatment and support services for consumers with severe mental illness.

Team Mental Health Services is well trained and experienced in linking consumers with programs and services that are available through government and private agencies.

  • Overcoming persistent feelings of sadness, emptiness and loss

Co-Occurring Treatment
A co-occurring disorder is when an individual has one or more substance abuse disorders and one or more mental health disorders at the same time. Co-occurring disorders can sometimes be difficult to diagnose. Symptoms of substance abuse or addiction can mask symptoms of mental illness, and symptoms of mental illness can be confused with symptoms of addiction. People with mental health disorders sometimes do not address their substance use because they don't believe it is relevant to their problems.
For example, a person who isn’t aware they are suffering from depression may abuse or use substances to alleviate the symptoms of depression. It is important to know if co-occurring disorders exist. To be effective, both disorders must be treated at the same time.

All Team Mental Health Services staff are educated and trained in addressing co-occurring disorders. All consumers are assessed for substance abuse issues. Mental health treatment and substance abuse issues are addressed in a caring and welcoming environment to ensure the consumer receives treatment in both areas.
Primary Health Care
Team Mental Health Services supports wellness and the empowerment of the person served to improve mental and physical well-being. Consumers suffering from mental illness often neglect caring for their personal health due to homelessness, victimization/trauma, unemployment, poverty, incarceration or social isolation.

The importance of partnering with primary health care cannot be underestimated as side effects of medications used for treatment have become more highly associated with weight gain, diabetes, insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome.

Team Mental Health encourages the consumers we serve and their families to develop our vision of integrated care.
